OVHcloud selected by GÉANT, the pan-European association of National Research and Education Networks, as part of the OCRE 2024 Framework
Research and education institutions to gain simplified access to cloud solutions with highest standards of data protection and security in 9 European countries
5-year framework agreement started in February 2025

Roubaix – January 27th 2026 – OVHcloud, a global cloud player and the European Cloud leader, announces that it has been awarded the contract for the OCRE (Open Clouds for Research and Education) 2024 Framework, launched by GÉANT, the pan-European association of National Research and Education Networks. This five-year framework agreement enables OVHcloud to deliver sovereign cloud services to educational and research institutions across nine European countries, including Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Simplifying access to cloud solutions for Education and Research
The OCRE 2024 framework aims to streamline access to a wide portfolio of cloud solutions for European education and research institutions, including OVHcloud's comprehensive offering of Public Cloud Services. These are comprised of more than 40 products and services including Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions. The partnership will facilitate the procurement and integration of innovative cloud services tailored to the specific needs of the scientific community.

A long-standing commitment to the Academic and Research communities
OVHcloud has a proven track record of collaboration with research institutes such as INRIA, on cloud design and sustainability initiatives. The company is committed to accelerating innovation through strategic partnerships, including the multi-year program on environmental-impact measurement and the DISTILLER project, which aims to develop new scientific methodologies and tools to reduce the environmental footprint of cloud-native applications.

OVHcloud is also actively contributing to the advancement of quantum computing. The Group has invested in the MosaiQ photonic computer from Quandela, a quantum computer that is used for research and development, including security. OVHcloud also invested in building a Quantum Cloud Platform, allowing access to a wide range of quantum emulators as well as future QPUs so organisations can start their quantum R&D in as-a-service consumption mode.

These investments aimed at fostering open innovation are set to prepare the ecosystem and make advanced computation more accessible to innovators.

A trusted partner for the Education and Research sector
Through this framework agreement, OVHcloud reinforces its position as a trusted partner for the education and research sector, supporting the digital transformation of these essential fields.

Caroline Comet-Fraigneau, Chief Revenue Officer at OVHcloud said "We are proud to have been selected by GÉANT as one of the official cloud providers to facilitate access to cloud resources for European educational and research institutions. The adoption of a sovereign and efficient cloud is key for the European education and research sector, and at OVHcloud, we hope to contribute to its even more agile digitalisation by being part of this pan-European initiative."
