New Local Zone supports Australian and New Zealand business expansion with reduced latency and local data residency

Sydney – May 5th 2026 – OVHcloud, a global cloud player and the European Cloud leader, today announces the opening of its Local Zone in Auckland with Datacentre220, New Zealand's most connected and edge-ready data centre. Complementing OVHcloud’s Local Zones across  Europe and the Americas, the Auckland Local Zone is the first in the Asia Pacific region. It brings Australian and New Zealand customers new options to access the Group’s Public Cloud services with low latency and local data residency, helping organisations to meet stringent security policies across industries including finance, banking, healthcare and government.

Public Cloud services with fast data processing and local data storage

The new OVHcloud Local Zone in Auckland offers customers the ability to scale their infrastructure with low latency and local data residency. With data staying close to where it is generated or needed, and accessible through the Cloud, customers can be confident that their data stays within geographical boundaries defined by either local regulations or security policies. This is particularly important across industries such as consulting, financial services and healthcare.

Workloads with latency-sensitive services such as E-Commerce websites, Content Delivery Network (CDN) for replay and streaming videos, as well as Cloud gaming benefit from single digit millisecond latencies and faster response times. Security vendors also benefit from the local presence with reduced transit costs.

In addition, customers can look forward to optimised costs and pay only for what they use, consolidating essential services and avoiding unnecessary complexity.

The launch of our first Asia Pacific Local Zone in Auckland is a key milestone for OVHcloud’s commitment to the region,” said Terry Maiolo, Vice President-General Manager Asia Pacific, OVHcloud. “Through our partnership with Datacentre220, we ensure local data residency compliance, further reinforcing our commitment to digital sovereignty. Regional customers can now leverage the Local Zone for more secure and efficient services when expanding their businesses to New Zealand.”

By partnering with OVHcloud and bringing world-class cloud compute directly to our shores, we are ensuring that regional and local businesses can maintain complete local data residency while enjoying the high-speed, low-latency performance required for next-generation applications, said Ross Delaney, CEO, Datacentre220. This raises the bar for the New Zealand market, with OVHcloud giving our local tech ecosystem a world-class sovereign and trusted cloud."

In addition to OVHcloud’s three data centres in Sydney, businesses now benefit from a Local Zone in Auckland with ISO/IEC 27001 certification. Available Public Cloud services include Compute, Block and Object Storage services, addressable through OpenStack.
