OVHcloud joins the list of cloud service providers qualified by the Quebec government

Press Release
Trusted Cloud

In order to facilitate the digital transition of Quebec's public organizations, OVHcloud has joined the catalog of cloud providers authorized to implement infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service and related software-as-a-service solutions. Issued by the Ministry of Cybersecurity and Digital Technology, the qualification is based on IT security and compliance with the government's legal framework. It marks an important step in the digital transformation of Quebec in a trusted ecosystem.

Quebec's public organizations can now benefit from all of OVHcloud's products and services, available locally in the Group’s Canadian data centers. This includes local dedicated infrastructure and software solutions managed by VMware or Nutanix. This expanded portfolio meets the best industry standards in terms of performance and security: OVHcloud guarantees full transparency on data location, operating in total compliance with the most demanding regulatory frameworks in terms of personal data protection (European GDPR, Law 25 in Quebec).

Multicloud and digital sovereignty
Cloud computing has propelled Quebec's digital transformation, which gained fresh momentum following the 2019 announcement that it would entrust the hosting of more than half of public data to the cloud sector. Quebec’s stated objective was to modernize and secure digital infrastructures by entrusting it to a sector of expertise, recognized in Quebec as one of the most dynamic in the world.* OVHcloud joining the catalog of cloud providers sends a strong signal to public organizations that wish to diversify their digital strategy, secure their data from end-to-end and control the use made of it, free from any extraterritorial interference.

"This announcement confirms OVHcloud's high standards for securing the most sensitive data, especially citizen data. It also underscores the importance of a multi-cloud approach in digital strategies, to avoid being locked into one technology or model that dictates the rules. OVHcloud's model, which is open, interoperable and reversible, guarantees this freedom," said Estelle Azemard, vice president of Americas at OVHcloud.
