"vRack": a solution "made in OVH.com" to build hybrid architectures

Pioneering is part of OVH.com’s tradition. In 2011, OVH.com was one of the first to offer cloud services. The next year, it opened a data center in North America that will eventually become the world’s largest facility of its type. Today, OVH.com launches its vRack, a proprietary solution that anticipates the requirements of hybrid architectures. Recently available in North America, it has already obtained the "Best of IT innovation 2014" prize awarded by the German based Initiative Mittelstand (April 2014). Private connections of up to 40 Gbps
The vRack provides the technology that enables the connection of several servers (physical or virtual) so that they can communicate privately. Inter-server data don’t transit through the public network. Besides being completely secured, data travel at a great speed: up to 40 Gbps, with the right network adapter, against 500 Mbps provided by the public network. Most OVH.com’s services can thus be interconnected: Infrastructure, Storage, and Big Data dedicated servers, Dedicated Cloud, among others. The vRack is included in all these offers without any extra charges. Very soon it will also be possible to connect Runabove, OVH.com’s Public Cloud service. Multi-datacenter secured connexions
Another strength is that the vRack can be implemented across the different data centers owned by OVH. It is possible to build private redundant or distributed infrastructures among distant data centers. This synergy is possible thanks to a network made in OVH.com that provides a bandwidth of 3 Tbps and 33 PoPs throughout the world. With the purpose of ensuring an optimal implementation of the vRack, OVH.com has installed 1,300 miles of cable in its data centers over a period of three months. This implies a great efficiency since data only requires 40 ms to travel from Europe (data centers located in the north of France) to North America (servers located in BHS, Canada). Hybrid infrastructures on demand and with a few clicks
When it comes to hybrid solutions, OVH.com’s vRack is the best choice. Even though it still keeps a low profile, complementary exploitation of different technologies (virtual and hardware, internal and external cloud, public and external dedicated cloud) is set for significant expansion in the upcoming months. In a study conducted by Gartner and published in 2013, 70% of the surveyed companies answered that hybrid clouds would be part of their strategy by 2015. With a few clicks, users can set up and activate their vRacks (up to 5 per account). An easy administration is possible thanks to OVH.com’s API, everything powered by CISCO ASR 9000 (acting as a bridge for the vRack) and NEXUS 6000 and 2000 routers (connecting different servers). Thanks to the vRack 2.0 (now available for the Dedicated Cloud and soon for the dedicated servers), OVH.com’s clients will be able to deploy 4,000 VLANs, an excellent feature to isolate servers, filter accesses, and secure data. The vRack will become an essential tool for global companies with the hardest security policies. They will be able to distribute and regroup their data according to the geographical location of their users, and synch all their infrastructures even if located in different data centers. In other words, when it comes to data flow and security, OVH.com’s vRack is the natural choice. For more info: vRack .
